Talking IPL truths, pitch politics, and Dhoni with The Last Wicket podcast
I joined The Last Wicket podcast yesterday to chat all things IPL – from curious pitches and standout players to whether Dhoni should carry on and why I’m still backing Punjab Kings.
I was the main guest on The Last Wicket podcast this week, and really enjoyed the conversation with hosts Benny and Mayank – two thoughtful and generous cricket fans with a sharp eye on the IPL.
We covered a lot in an hour or so, including:
Why pitches aren’t being tailored to the home side’s requirements - is home advantage a thing of the past?
Standout performances from the past week – and some names I’ll be watching closely over the next few games.
Which teams look most coherent right now, who’s flattering to deceive, and why I’m still holding firm on my pre-tournament pick: Punjab Kings
And, of course, the Dhoni question. He’s still got the aura, still has the finishing instincts – but has his role in the side become more symbolic than strategic?

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts – whether you agree with my takes or think I’m miles off. That’s half the fun.
